Ceramics Care Guide

At POT & POP, our ceramics are crafted from high-density, durable porcelain and stoneware, fired at high temperatures to ensure resilience, stain resistance, and everyday longevity. Proper care will keep your pieces beautiful for years to come.

Dishwasher & Microwave Safe

  • Dishwasher: All POT & POP glazed ceramics are dishwasher safe, including commercial dishwashers. Ensure pieces are spaced appropriately to avoid impact chipping during wash cycles.
  • Microwave: Safe for standard microwave heating. (Do not microwave items with metallic or gold-luster details if applicable.)

Thermal Shock Prevention

While our ceramics withstand high temperatures, sudden and extreme shifts in temperature (thermal shock) can cause cracking.

  • Avoid moving ceramics directly from a refrigerator or freezer into a preheated oven or direct heat source.
  • Do not rinse freshly heated ceramic tableware under cold tap water immediately. Allow pieces to cool naturally.

Glaze Characteristics & Cutlery Marks

  • Matte & Artisan Glazes: Matte and reactive glazes offer unique tactile textures. Occasionally, soft metal flatware may leave light surface marks (metal transfer). These are not scratches in the ceramic body and can typically be removed with gentle baking soda or ceramic cleaners.
  • Handmade Variations: Subtle variations in color, glaze flow, and dimension are inherent characteristics of high-fire ceramic artistry, making each piece unique.
